Let's face it, right after you hold and fall in love with your new bundle of joy you look down and think two things
1-Why is there still 30 lbs of fat on my rear??
2- I'm exhausted! When am I going to have time to hit the gym?
If you're reading this then I'm sure you've searched the Internet for weight loss tips. You could take pills that make you sweat and pass out or for you lucky few get the fat sucked out by a medical professional....my advice try the OLD FASHIONED way. Yes I know that sounds crazy, but if you think about it the fat got on there the old fashioned way - hitting the all you can eat pizza buffet, or plowing through a box of ice cream sandwiches during an episode of ER (don't judge!!!!!!)
First if you're breastfeeding you're burning about 600-1,000 calories a day just from that, keep that sweet fat burner going as long as you can!! Give yourself some time, no we're not all going back into our pre-baby pants within weeks, months or years (again no judging) let your body heal (the typical 6 weeks) and then get acclimated to when your new nocturnal child sleeps!
Second start small, take junior for a walk around the block, throw in an old pilates tape while they nap. If you have a treadmill or elliptical in your basement, just walk on that while you knock out Season 5 of Sex and the City instead of sitting on the couch nibbling on the Oreos. If you're lucky enough get out to do some swimming, yoga, or Thighs-Butts-Guts classes. You can build up to more intense jogging, lifting weights and spinning.
Third what I discovered as a streously planned baby's perfectly balanced all 5 food groups dinner was that I wasn't eating all that great. If I couldn't share my pizza with baby then maybe I should be having the chicken and green beans that he was having! Make small changes, cut out a snack here or there, don't have seconds. I really enjoyed www.sparkpeople.com. It is a free and easy way to track your calories (you'd be surprised how quickly things add up!!)
Last make this an entire family goal, you want you children to grow up healthy so set these standards in place from the beginning! Ice Cream and cookies are for special occasions and being outside is better than being inside. Like I said the Old Fashioned way, and if you stick with it you will bring sexy back!
**Disclaimer with baby #1 I gained 50 lbs and lost it in 8 months, with baby #2 I gained 40 lbs and lost it in 13 months. There is still fat in some messed up places, but it will be gone soon!!
