How to Buy a Good Baby Gate
When it comes to picking out the baby gates that you will need to childproof your home, there are a few things that you should keep in mind.
1) Make sure that the gate is sturdy enough to withstand a direct blow from the baby. I'm not sure why but it seems in their nature to run headfirst into the gate. This could be with all babies, or just boys, I'm not sure. There is no point in buying a gate that is going to fall over repeatedly.
2) Make sure that the gate is tall enough so when your baby is older enough to attempt to crawl over the gate, you won't have to purchase another one. Granted, this could be a sign that your baby has out grown the gate stage and should be allowed throughout the house.
3) It will be a difficult decision when it comes to choosing between a pressure mounted gate and one that drills into the doorway. Obviously the ones that drill into your doorway are steadier, but you will have holes in the doorway.
4) Finally pick a gate that you can stand to look at. This gate will be a part of the motif of your home for the next few years.
