This is when things start to really get messy. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to the bottle, but the sooner they start eating solid food, the sooner they stop throwing it all over themselves while we eat.
We learned first hand that starting solid food as early as the child could handle it was beneficial from multiple standpoints. First of all, if you are breastfeeding, you can still continue to do that throughout the day. There is no reason you cant feed him solid food in the morning and breastfeed at night. Secondly, if you are feeding your baby formula this will cut down on your monthly expenditures greatly.
Waiting for the right time to start feeding your baby solid food is also important. It isn't good to start solid food too early simply because the baby hasn't developed fully yet. In simple standards, if your baby doesn't have teeth they probably shouldn't be eating solid food.
We recommend starting at six months
