When you're stuck in the house all day, because of rain - or two feet of snow. Here are some ideas to keep everyone happy, and off the ceiling.
- Read some stories. Gather your children up on a big chair or couch and read them some stories from your childhood. This will be fun for them and nostalgic for you, and they will learn something.
- Learning can be a lot of fun for younger children. In the early years, they really love to go to school and learn. You can bring school to them. Set up a chalkboard and go over letters and numbers. They will be the aces of their school class once they enter pre-school.
- Coloring is always an old favorite. Really anything to do with arts and crafts will do. If your children are old enough then you could enternain them with coloring books, painting, or even drawing. This could be great fun for you and the family.
- Bring in your sand and water table and set it up in the beasement with an old shower cutain on the floor, to minimize mess your kids will create. Just make sure that the water is a nice warm temperature. It can be pretty uncomfortable with freezing water for your children and you.
- Make a huge tent out of all the blankets you have and explore it with flashlights. Kids love hiding underneath the blankets.
- Have a picnic in your living room in the middle of winter, make a fruit salad and have cold cuts on the floor. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
